Each person has their own morphology, our size charts are presented for information only. We recommend that you do not wear an airbag if you weigh less than 35 kg.
The e-Turtle 2 is available in 7 sizes: from XS to XL-L.
The e-Turtle 2 airbag is designed to be worn over your normal clothing or usual motorcycle or equestrian equipment e.g. jackets, body armour etc.
Don’t forget to take this into account when taking measurements.
Please Note: There is currently up to a 3 month delay on the folk sensor.
Helite e-Turtle 2 Airvest
The NEW Helite e-Turtle 2 incorporates the same iconic design as the Helite Turtle 2, with the added benefit of autonomous inflation of the wireless, electronically activated airbag.
Inflation of the airbag is activated in less than 0.08s. With the use of the optional e-Bike Fork Sensor Pack, full protection can also be achieved even when your bike is stationary e.g. impact from a 3rd party vehicle.
Due to import and covid delays, some electronic triggering devices could see a delay of up to 30 days for shipping. For more information, or to check availability, please contact us.
For complete protection it is highly recommended to add the optional fork sensor on to your motorcycle.
THE ADVANTAGES:
More accidents covered: protection whilst stationary (impacts from 3rd parties) and at lower speeds at any angle. Greatly reducing injury.
Faster detection at first impact or slip: Â Reduces detection times whilst using the folk sensor from 0.08s to just 0.03s at 35 km/h.
Save Money: Save £25 when purchasing the vest and fork sensor together from this page.
Helite e-Turtle 2 Airvest: Technology
Large Airbag Volume: Helite airbags offer the largest volume of protection on the market between 17L and 28L. The unique shape of the airbag effectively absorbs shocks, protects vital areas and stabilises the body from your head to your coccyx.
Electronic System: The Helite electronic Airvest does not require any attachments as it works autonomously. It detects the rider’s movements and triggers the airbag in the event of an accident or fall. There are two sensors involved in the electronic systems – one located in the vest and an optional fork sensor.
Vest Sensor: This sensor involves motion analysis algorithms and GPS signals. This sensor will detect a variety of incidences e.g. high side, low side falls, impacts to a significant obstacle (tree, car, wall), but only accidents above 12mph.
Once charged the vest will have approximately 25 hours of use before it will require recharging. It will automatically switch to ‘sleep mode’ when no movement is detected for 45 seconds and is reactivated automatically with first movement.
e-Bike Fork Sensor: This is a very useful optional addition to the wireless technology. The list of detectable accidents is increased by using this device as they also include accidents when stationary/0mph for example when you are hit by a 3rd party vehicle.
Please note: Each accident is different. Even though the Helite crash detection system covers a large majority of accidents, there is always a risk of non-triggering as the accident you personally experience is not recognised by the software or there has been an interruption in the GPS signal.
The fork sensor is easily installed on the motorcycle and does not require charging as it has an autonomy of around 5 years.
No Updates Required: Currently no system or algorithm updates are required for the vest to function correctly. Should this ever become the case we will contact you directly.
TURTLE Technology: a SAS-TEC level 2 back protector was added to the airbag to distribute the energy from an impact over the entire airbag. This technology significantly improves energy absorption and reduces the risk of intrusion.
4 x MORE EFFECTIVE THAN A NORMAL AIRBAG
Due to the placement of the back protector on the outside of the airbag this results in the energy from an impact being dispersed effectively & evenly.
Tests from the external laboratory CRITT Sport have shown that the force distribution is 4 times more effective than with a regular airbag of the same size and the same shape.
Reusable: Providing there is no damage to the airvest the system is perfectly reusable. Simply replace the correct sized e-canister according to the instruction manual and away you go. It will take less than 2 minutes for you to complete this task.
CE Certification & Warranty
CE certified airbag: All our airbags are certified by the ALIENOR CERTIFICATION laboratory, a recognised organisation that checks and approves personal protective equipment (PPE) for motorcyclists.
Guarantee: All Helite airbags come with a 2 year warranty as standard. You can extend this if you register your airbag within 3 months of purchase and have it serviced by us at the end of the first two years. This will give you an additional two years of warranty of the airbag. (Airbag Component Only – Encapsulating Jackets, Vests, Outers and Backpacks come With A Standard 1 Year Warranty).
In order to satisfy any of the warranties you must retain proof of purchase (e.g. invoice/receipt) and also proof that your airvest or jacket has been serviced as a minimum of every 2 years.
How do I choose the right size?
Answer: It is important to choose the right size of your airbag system for optimal protection. For this, we advise you to follow our size chart. Hint: measuring your back is important and a good indication to find the right size. Please note that the models Turtle, e-Turtle, Airnest, Custom, GP Air and e-GP Air should always be worn over your motorcycle equipment. You should therefore only take your measurements with your equipment. The Touring, Vented, Roadster, Xena and Parka City models are worn like a classic motorcycle jacket.
Is it possible to try the airbag system?
Answer: Yes. Simply click the green button labeled "Try before you buy" and follow the instructions.
Where can I buy new cartridges?
Answer: All replacement cartridges can be purchased from our accessories section.
Can I reuse my airbag system after an accident?
Answer: Yes, as long as the airbag is in good condition with no holes or tears. It's easy to do, you can reset the system in under 2 minutes, without sending your airbag system back to us. You simply need to replace the CO2 cartridge with a new one, available in our accessories section.
Can I reuse the CO2 cartridge?
Answer: No, once it is used you will need a replacement.
What is the warranty of the Helite airbag systems?
Answer: All Helite airbags come with a 2 year warranty as standard. You can extend this if you register your airbag within 3 months of purchase and have it serviced by us at the end of the first two years. This will give you an additional two years of warranty of the airbag. (Airbag Component Only - Encapsulating Jackets, Vests, Outers and Backpacks come With A Standard 1 Year Warranty).
Can I travel with my Helite airbag?
Answer: Bus, train, car: No constraint. For electronic models, remember to turn off the vest when you take this type of transport with your vest. Â Plane : You may encounter some difficulties with the security services regarding the CO2 cartridges used to inflate the airbag. According to the regulations (IATA Regulations - see Manuals section), you are authorised to fly with 2 gas cartridges (the volume must be less than 200cc), in the cabin or in the hold. Even if the regulations allow it, it is possible that the security service or the airline refuses to let you board with it. We strongly recommend that you print the "IATA Regulations" and show this document to the security service or the airline during the control if they ask for more explanations. In any case, it is the airport security service and the airline that will make the final decision whether or not to accept the airbag on board. Often each airline will have their own advice pages online, it is worth printing these out also as supplementary documentation.
Whilst I have so far avoided “deploying” the e-Turtle 2 in anger (touch wood!), it seems to be a great product.
Fitting the optional sensor to the bike was easy and the actual Airvest is simple to put on and very comfortable in use. That is you are not really aware it is there.
My daily commute into London is 2 hours each way and I only recharge the Airvest every few days (when my helmet’s comms system need recharging!). So I know it must be good for at least 8-12 hours before needing to be charged up.
Not much more to say really.

I found the Helite e-Turtle 2 Airvest provides much more freedom by not needing to be tethered to your bike. It’s simple to use, comfortable to wear and the battery lasts all day. Once you’ve had one for a while, you probably won’t want to ride without it.

Thankfully I’ve not had to use this in anger but wear it on every ride. Comfortable to wear (I essentially forget all about it), but reassuring to know it’s there should I ever need it.

I had a non-“e” Turtle before, and thought it was brilliant. This is another level of brilliant though, especially if you (like me) have the memory of a goldfish and/or ride more than one bike. I have both these, um, blessings, so the e-turtle is a godsend. Turn it on and that’s it. Don’t worry about remembering to disconnect before getting off (or indeed reconnect before riding away). A quick look in the right side mirror lets you see the little LED blinking away and you can even see when it goes orange and you need a recharge.
I regularly forget to turn the vest off and it’s still green after a day. Does it know I’m an idiot? Maybe. It’s bloody clever, anyway.
In short this is a fabulous bit of kit that I’m fairly confident will one day save my life. As well as yours, if you get one.

Thankfully I haven’t had to use it in anger. It’s comfortable to wear on the bike and not heavy. Battery life is good and you get plenty of warning when the battery is getting low. I think my only issue is, it’s difficult to get into a pannier or top box when you arrive somewhere. This is due to the length of the spine board.

I wanted an airvest because a problem with my spine makes me particularly vulnerable in the event of an accident. The Helite airvest seemed to offer the best back and neck protection of any airbag on the market, and I chose the e-Turtle 2 for the convenience of electronic triggering. It’s comfortable and easy to use. Turn it on, put it on and do up three clips – no lanyard to forget. Battery life seems very good. I just need to remember to charge it every week or two. Peter couldn’t have been more helpful about choosing the right size to order, and the airvest was delivered the next day. Excellent service.
